Neurologist

Dr Joel Maamary is a neurologist and PhD candidate at the St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney. He obtained a Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery with first class honours and the university medal from the University of Notre Dame Australia.

Dr Maamary completed his neurology training at the Royal Prince Alfred and St Vincent’s Hospitals in Sydney before undertaking a two year fellowship in movement disorders under A/Prof Stephen Tisch at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney.

He holds both clinical and research appointments across the St Vincent’s campus and is an Adjunct Clinical Associate Lecturer at the University of Notre Dame Sydney. Dr Maamary has been the recipient of multiple scholarships and research grants and is currently completing a PhD on the use of MRI guided focused ultrasound thalamotomy for individuals with focal hand dystonia.

Dr Maamary provides consultations for:

  • Movement Disorders
  • Parkinson’s Disease, including all medical and surgical device assisted therapies
  • Tremor
  • Dystonia
  • Tic Disorders
  • The use of botulinum toxin for movement disorders
