Lauren Keegan is a registered psychologist with extensive experience working with women in the perinatal period (pre-conception to postpartum 12 months +). Before joining HSH, Lauren worked in a hospital-based perinatal and infant mental health team for twelve years, providing specialised mental health care to women and their babies in South-West Sydney.
Lauren has experience with the following presentations: perinatal anxiety and depression, fertility and pregnancy loss, pregnancy termination, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, complex trauma, and mother-infant attachment (bonding) difficulties. She enjoys working closely with other allied health practitioners, psychiatrists, GPs and maternity providers to deliver quality care for women and their families.
Lauren has a warm and compassionate approach to care. She works from a trauma-informed and attachment-based framework, drawing upon current research including attachment theory, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and mindfulness, and family-of-origin work. In the postnatal period, she incorporates parenting interventions such as Circle of Security (COS) and Marte Meo to support the mother-infant attachment relationship.
Lauren is passionate about maternal mental health and is happy to join the Highlands Specialist Hub in private practice to continue supporting perinatal women. She will accept referrals for women who are planning for a baby, are pregnant, postpartum and/or require parenting support (0-3 years).
